Day 3

Had the All Mixed up Smoothie and it was quite tasty, even though it was chunky. it was like i was drinking a salad, really.

my legs weren't as sore so i was able to make it to the gym where i did the cardio workout Amanda suggested. it was AWESOME! i really like the interval work out b/c it's easy for me to see that in one more minute it'll change and i can get a "break". i did it on the elliptical, so i'm going to the gym again on friday to do the same cardio, but on a different machine. i'm pumped to get healthy and lose WEIGHT!

my immediate goal is to be able to button, comfortably, my black pants i had on yesterday. boy were they uncomfortable and i got sore red spots on my legs from taking them down to pee so much. i only have 3 pair of work pants that fit right now and i don't want to be buying anymore at this size.

i'm keeping at 60 oz of water a day which is twice what amanda told me to do, but it's doable for me. when i have a goal set before me, i usually make it so it's good that i have a trainer, i think.

for lunch i had a salad and for dinner... YUM! salad of course, fake chikn breast, fried zucchini/squash/onions (in olive oil) and corn on the cob. it felt good to eat so much and i didn't put butter on my corn like i usually do. surprise! it was still good!

Day 2

Day 2

I loved the sweet lettuce smoothie for breakfast. much more liquidy and not as much to drink (about half of the one the day before)

My legs were worse than the day before. giant charlie horses and i was still walking like a old lady robot. i do think the epsom salt baths are finally helping. i hope i'm putting enough in my bath to make a difference.

at lunch i had soup and salad with my mom at mac n bobs and for dinner was a big salad, salmon and rice.

i'm hoping that i won't be this sore every time. i can't imagine working out monday AND tuesday of next week. i'm going to be miserable. i

i'm auditioning for a play on saturday. i hope my morning workout with amanda won't make me so sore i look awful on stage .haha.

Get the Balance Right

I started seeing a personal trainer this week. i'm going to post what i journal about on my trainer's message board for all to see!

Day 1 (Sept 29, 2009): My Legs HURT and i can hardly walk today due to the dead lifts and squats from yesterday. I tried the tropical Tango Smoothie and learned that i need to liquefy my smoothies more b/c it was REALLY chunky. I did the salad before lunch and dinner. actually my salad was my lunch with nothing else. the salad at dinner def curbed my appetite and i only ate 2 pieces of pizza (small pieces at that). That's what we had in the freezer so that's what we ate.

i had some snacks during work. mostly nuts and a string cheese. i wanted to go to the gym to do cardio but my legs were SO bad i couldn't even think about walking much less doing anything else.

i started the candex last night as well and haven't had any problems with it. i took my multi vitamin along with my cal/mag/zinc pills, 1000mg of C, 400eu of E (for breast soreness and thyroid function), and a Selenium pill (for thyroid function... i may discontinue this as it has yeast in it).

overall it was a good day!

Just Can't Get Enough... ERASURE!

I'm gonna talk about Erasure now and you're gonna sit there and take it. i'm a newer fan of the band as i lived under a rock most of my life and was never exposed to them until i met my good friend, Chris.

More to the point, it was this picture of him. My favorite. He's just standing there looking pretty with an Erasure shirt on. actually here's the pic and it even comes with comment by me.

Anyhoo, this pic somehow sparked my mind into action. must. listen. to. ERASURE.

I bought POP, a greatest hits album. If that CD were a tape, i think it'd be broken by now, but my ipod handles it just fine. I then bought the other greatest hits album, HITS. just a few other songs on it but enough to make me happy. but now... now i'm ready to move on... i'm ready to buy albums and i'm starting with The Innocents. Chris says it's being re-issued so i'm going to wait for that.

Anyhoozle. The reason i brought this whole thing up is b/c i listen to Erasure a lot on my way to work in the morning. it gets me happy. it makes me dance. it makes me sing. all those things, i should not have to tell you, equal the beginning of a good day at work. So this morning i got in my car and apparently i had been listening to Erasure the night before. Victim of Love was on and suddenly it hit me that i need to listen to it louder and louder, over and over. In this song, i suddenly heard why i love Erasure so much... and that's Vince Clarke. it's very clear that this man can manipulate synth like no other. I'm no musician and i'm not a music expert so when i explain what i mean, it's in my terms... so please keep that close in your mind.

Here.... Have a listen:

It's the back beat that gets me. You hear the guitar, you hear the higher/prominent notes of the synth and of course Andy Bell's unique voice. You hear all of those first. But there's this back beat that's makes this song truly amazing. it could stand alone as a song in itself. add a monotone gothy voice singing about wanting a girl on the dance floor and you've got yourself a She Want Revenge song. add a European singer with lyrics pertaining to robots having feelings and you've got Heartbreak. Add a sensual voice singing about what he must do to make her submit and you've got... well you've got Depeche Mode which... just isn't too far from the Erasure tree now, its it.

But Vince does something else. He makes a perfect pop song with this dark back beat. He adds those elements that make it happier and dancey. He lets this song be something other than what it simply could be. He builds layer upon layer of more synth and adds the simplest acoustic guitar to make this song absolutely loveable.

That is why i love Erasure and the genius of Vince Clarke.

must. listen. to. MORE. Erasure.

First post on my new Blog

like my friend Fort, i'm SICK of trying to use myspace to blog, so i'm switching to blogger. here's what i WANTED to post on myspace:

So i'll be DJing probably to my biggest crowd yet on Halloween. i'm nervous and i'm practicing constantly. i've grown a lot since the last time i DJed in the club. i understand beat-matching a bit more, though i still need LOTS of practice on that. i'm selecting songs really well. I'm starting to get a feel for BPMs without using the beat counter constantly. it's a really fun... hobby. i wish it could be more than that, but i've gotta work extra hard to get to a better level before it's more.

also, it's hard playing what i play in Roanoke. i LOVE electro, indie dance, 80s synthpop... but it doesn't seem like anyone else in town really likes it and that makes it hard to get up there and play each time. i know i'm supposed to play to my audience, but i guess this is all i know at the moment. maybe it's not that no one in town likes it, maybe it's that i'm not playing the right club. i dunno. i think what i play is PERFECT for halloween, so maybe this will be the time i make everyone dance like crazy.

so people... come to our Halloween show and DANCE! also, i will be wearing a corset so at least come and ogle my boobs. maybe i'll make you dance while you're staring.

OH! and check out a band called Heartbreak... they're the type of stuff i LOVE to play in my sets.
